Theatre Shows
“Not dance, not theatre, not hilarious comedy, not performance art, and yet, somehow, cleverly all of the above.”
Born in a Taxi creates spectacular, innovative award-winning theatrical productions for theatres and found spaces.
THE WAITING ROOM
Melbourne’s most experienced improvisers joyously prise open the experience of ‘waiting’ through unrepeatable playful improvisations. Unpredictable encounters between performers, audience and the site are fueled by the irrepressible spirit of play. Waiting Room places collective human behaviour under the microscope.
NO FORMER PERFORMER HAS PERFORMED THIS PERFORMANCE BEFORE
Show up. Start anywhere. Make mistakes. Don’t think. Trust. It's bigger than us.
Born in a Taxi forges new frontiers into improvisation. A live ‘study’ into performance, risk, improvisation, and audience-performer reciprocity. Edgy and immediate, intuitive and responsive. Each show is completely different.
PRIME TIME
A dialogue between generations, a celebration of community, connection and the ageing process.
Prime Time is a new inter-generational live performance work in development. Created by Born in a Taxi in collaboration with key creatives and a mix of 13 professional and non-professional performers aged between 2 to 93 years of age.
SYSTEMS PEOPLE
Systems People holds up the mirror to the art of business and the business of art in Australia, in a collective company autobiography about three fools navigating an increasingly systemised world.
UNSPOKEN
An interactive performance addressing end of life choices. Communicating and discussing the paradoxes and complexities that face us as we age, encourages us to be pro-active and plan for what may lie ahead.
Created with Health Issues Centre Victoria.
MIDNIGHT IN THE FLICKERING WILD
Living installation, sparking creativity, conversation, and participation.
It’s format can vary depending on the environment, community, and desired outcomes, but here is an example of how a program might run.
“Born in a Taxi’s theatre works “return to that place of innocence and play that allows the artist, like the child, to truly create the product during the process. This is profoundly enjoyable”
